Motherwell FC is pleased to confirm defender Charles Dunne is the seventh new arrival of the summer.

24-year old Dunne, who operates at left back or left-sided centre back, came through the youth ranks at Wycombe.

He made his senior debut for the Chairboys in 2012, playing 42 times in his rookie season, picking up the club’s ‘Most Improved Young Player’ award at the end of the campaign.

His impressive performances at Adams Park caught the eye of then Championship club Blackpool, and manager Paul Ince paid an undisclosed fee to take the 6ft 2 Republic of Ireland U21 International to Bloomfield Road, although to continue his development he was immediately loaned back to Wanderers.

However, a leg break suffered against Preston North End in the FA Cup curtailed his season.

He would play fairly regularly for the Seasiders in their 2014-15 Championship campaign before eventually leaving the club at the end of the following season, signing for Oldham Athletic in League One by current ‘Well boss Stephen Robinson.

The pacey Dunne made a positive start for the Latics in a team that weren’t winning many games, but were extremely organized defensively; keeping four ‘clean sheets’ in his opening six League One matches.

However, a pelvic injury played havoc with the second half of the season before he was released in the summer.

After passing a medical and having trained with the club for two weeks, Dunne has signed a one-year deal with the opportunity for a second year.

Dunne, who will wear the number 18 shirt this season, told MFC TV on signing his deal: “I’m delighted to have signed my deal with Motherwell and I am really looking forward to working with the manager once again.

“I’ve been with the squad for two weeks now and it’s been fantastic. I’m just looking forward to getting playing again with Motherwell.”

‘Well boss Stephen Robinson added: “Charles is a player who I have worked with before. He’s a big, strong athelte who can play in a number of different defensive positions.

“He adds real pace to the back four and he’ll provide real compeition for places back there. We’ve had him up to assess him over the last few weeks and he’s been outstanding, both on and off the park. We look forward to work with him.”

Motherwell FC can today announce admission prices for the forthcoming Group F fixtures this July.

‘Well, along with counterparts from Greenock Morton, Queens Park, Edinburgh City and Berwick Rangers have agreed a structure for all matches that take place within the group.

All ten fixtures will be pay-at-the-gate priced at:

Adults: £12
Concessions: £6
– Concessions at Fir Park are listed as Under 18s, Over 60s and Full Time Students with a valid matriculation card.

Chief Operating Officer Alan Burrows said: “We’ve worked with our colleagues at the other four clubs to come up with a standardized pricing structure which is hopefully attractive for competitive Cup football in July.

“In addition, the MFC Community Trust will announce their own offer for both home matches against Morton and Berwick that will reward the many who engage with them.”

Motherwell’s fixture with Hearts, scheduled to take place at Tynecastle on Saturday 26th August, will now be played at Fir Park.

As a result, the proposed second fixture, scheduled for Saturday 9th December at Fir Park, will now take place at Tynecastle.

The club agreed this after a request by Heart of Midlothian was made due to stadium redevelopment work currently ongoing at Tynecastle.

Motherwell FC has today appointed Craig Hinchliffe as goalkeeping coach, replacing the departed Marlon Beresford.

Hinchliffe, 45, has previous coaching experience with Partick Thistle, Dundee Utd and most recently at York City, that coming after a playing career that spanned over two decades.

He takes up the post vacated at the weekend by Marlon Beresford, who was headhunted for a goalkeeping coach role in the Middle East.

Hinchliffe will start straight away and has already travelled to Ireland with the squad for a week’s training at Carton House, working directly with Trevor Carson and Russell Griffiths.

‘Well boss Stephen Robinson said: “The timing wasn’t great and it was imperative our pre-season plans were not interrupted in any way, which is why we’ve brought Craig in.

“Marlon was great around the club and we didn’t want him to go, but the opportunity he has is quite literally life-changing, so he moves on with our best wishes for the future.

“Craig is someone who has come highly recommended to us. He has the highest goalkeeping qualification you can achieve; he has coached at some good clubs and with some really good managers and knows the Scottish game inside out. I am delighted he’s joining our set-up.”

Beresford himself said: “I’ve loved my short time at Motherwell and have been so impressed with how the club is run, the set-up and the people around Fir Park, who are all first class.

“I am leaving with an extremely heavy heart, but I was presented with something completely out the blue last week and it was just too good to turn down for my family and I.

“I want to wish everyone at Motherwell all the very best of luck for the future.”

And the incoming Hinchliffe added: “I am delighted to be back in the game and teaming up with Stephen Robinson and the staff here at Fir Park.

“Motherwell has an excellent reputation within the game and I am excited at the prospect of working with Trevor, Russell and the young goalkeepers we have here too.

“It’s my job to improve and mentor the goalkeepers at the club, and that’s my ultimate focus. I’m looking forward to getting started.”

Summer signing Alex Fisher spoke to the broadcast press for the first time since his arrival from Inverness CT.

And the 6ft 3in front man admitted he has found the move from the Highland outfit to the Fir Parkers an “easy transition”.

The English forward believes that the squad will be in shape in no time as the work to get up to match fitness gets underway.

Fisher said: “I came up a couple of days before pre-season, just to get used to the area and find an apartment and get settled in.

“The first day back was just standard fitness testing and everything you’d expect at this time of year and it looks like there’s more of this to come.”

“It’s only been three-and-a-half or four weeks since the last game of the season so you like to have a bit of down time but you get kick started again pretty soon.”

He added: “We’re all in relatively good shape and we have different bodies so it takes different amounts of time to get used to getting up to speed but as long as we’re all ready to go come the 15th of July that’s the ultimate aim.

“It’s quite a small league so you cross paths with a lot of the same players a lot.

“I didn’t know too much about the Motherwell team before but it’s been a really easy transition and they’ve made me feel very welcome.”

Motherwell FC will face Rangers at Fir Park in the opening game of the 2017/18 season.

The Steelmen will then take on St Johnstone (a), Ross County (h) and Hearts (a).

The first Lanarkshire derby is at New Douglas Park on October 14th and Stephen Robinson’s men face St Johnstone in the last match before the split next April.

Motherwell’s final pre-season fixture before the Betfred Cup will be an away trip face Vanarama National side Barrow AFC.

The Steelmen will take on the Bluebirds on Tuesday 11th July (6.30pm) at the Furness Building Society Stadium (Holker Street).

The game will be the final preparation match before the Betfred Cup opener against Queen’s Park at Hampden on Saturday 15th July.
