Motherwell FC is today delighted to confirm Scott McDonald has renewed his contract for season 2016/17.
McDonald, 32, was a hugely important figure for the Fir Parkers last term, helping the Steelmen back into the top-six with a fourteen-goal return.
The 26 times capped former Aussie international returned to the club in February of 2015, scoring five goals in eleven league games to help stave off the threat of relegation before forming a formidable partnership with Louis Moult that returned over thirty goals during 2015/16.
McDonald, who has also played for Southampton, Bournemouth, Celtic and Middlesbrough, had several offers from elsewhere, but after lengthy discussions, opted to stay at Fir Park and aiming to build on his 64 goals in 160 starts in Claret and Amber.

Skippy, who can operate in midfield or attack, told motherwellfc.co.uk: “I am so happy to be back at the club and can’t wait to get started again.
“There were a couple of serious offers on the table for me, but I always had it in my mind that Motherwell was a club where I love being, playing with players and a manager who I respect and supporters who have been very good to me.”
Mark McGhee added: “Scotty is one of the best players in the country, so we’re naturally delighted he has chose Motherwell over the other options he had.
“We can’t compete with some of the bigger sides in Scotland for cash, but Motherwell is a special club that draws people to it, particularly those who have been here for a period of time. It’s a welcoming, family environment that both players and staff enjoy.
“We have real competition in the goalkeeping, defensive and forward areas now. We are working hard on central midfield targets and hope to announce some new additions soon.”
