Motherwell have been drawn at home against Montrose in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup. 

The tie is due to take place on Sunday 12 February.

The women of steel advanced to the next round with a 3-0 win over Gartcairn. Kaela McDonald-Nguah, Katie Rice and Carla Boyce all got on the scoresheet.

Motherwell progressed safely into the next round of the Scottish Cup with a comfortable 3-0 win over SWPL2 side Gartcairn on Sunday at K-Park.

In a tie that Motherwell would be expected to win, they were frustrated in the early stages of the game, with Gartcairn holding firm.

Lucy Ronald thought she had opened the scoring when she finished from Boyce’s through ball but the linesman’s flag was raised to rule her goal out.

The breakthrough would in fact come on 30 minutes.

Chelsie Watson the provider and McDonald-Nguah was on hand to break the deadlock.

Boyce was involved in the action again when captain Gill Inglis slipped the number nine through but her inital shot was blocked by the keeper with her rebound also failing to beat the Gartcairn stopper.

Gartcairn would continue to hold Motherwell until the latter stages of the game.

With five minutes remaining in the tie, prolific set piece take Rice stepped up to knock her deadball into the top corner to open up a two goal advantage for the women of steel.

Striker Boyce got in on the action before the final whistle when she made it 3-0 when her strike took a deflection before nestling into the bottom corner.

Motherwell return to action after their winter break with a Scottish Cup fourth round tie against Gartcairn on Sunday 8 January. 

Kick-off is 4pm.

Motherwell last played on 9 December against Partick Thistle where Chelsie Watson got on the scoresheet in a 1-1 draw.

The women of steel are unbeaten in their last three games, with one draw and two wins.

Gartcairn are flying high at the top of SWPL2, two points clear of second placed Montrose.

The away side haven’t played since 4 December, where they lost 2-0 on the road to Montrose but had won three out of their three matches prior.

Motherwell take on title chasers Celtic in SWPL on Sunday at the Excelsior Stadium.

Adult tickets cost £8, while under 16s go free. Proof of age may be required.

The deal is free entry for up to two under 16s with every adult ticket purchased.

The Hoops thumped Dundee United 7-0 previously after a 0-0 draw with rivals Rangers.

Motherwell come into this game unbeaten in their last three league matches.

They were held to a 1-1 draw by Partick Thistle in their last match, with defender Chelsie Watson’s second half strike giving Motherwell the lead before it was cancelled out by a Partick Thistle equaliser with 10 minutes to go.

Motherwell are in Friday night SWPL action as they take on Partick Thistle on Friday 9 December at K-Park.

Motherwell come into this game off the back of back-to-back wins.

A strong showing in the Lanarkshire derby seen the women of steel come away 3-1 victors, after defeating Aberdeen 4-1 the week prior.

Partick Thistle have two wins out of three, with their last game ending in a 4-1 defeat to Glasgow City.

It hasn’t been long since Motherwell and Thistle faced off, with The Jags coming away with a victory at the start of November.

Motherwell will take on Gartcairn in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup. 

The tie is due to take place on Sunday 8 January.

It was a derby day to remember for Motherwell as they thumped Hamilton 3-1 on Sunday in SWPL. 

First half goals from Georgie Rafferty, Kaela McDonald-Nguah and Carla Boyce was enough to secure three points for Motherwell.

It was a close opening 20 minutes with Katie Rice having the only real chance. After being fouled on the edge of box, she then got up and took the free kick from 25 yards and skimmed the top of the bar.

Despite few chances, Motherwell controlled all the boy and made it count on the half hour mark. Hamilton failed to clear their lines from a corner and Georgie Rafferty picked up the ball on the left edge of the box and curled an effort into the back of the net.

It was 0-2 on 37 minutes. McDonald-Nguah managed to back heel the ball over the line from a Motherwell set piece.

Motherwell continued their ruthlessness on 43 minutes. Boyce picking up the ball from 20 yards and swivelled and smashed an effort on the volley to make it 0-3 at half time.

Hamilton came out the traps flying in the second half and pulled one back on 52 minutes. Tara McGonigle finishing from a cutback.

McDonald-Nguah almost restored the three goal lead straight after. Good work from Lori Gardner driving in from the left hand side, she found the striker who seen her effort gathered by the keeper.

The rest of the half played out with very few chances until the 80th minute, when Katie Rice fouled in the area and Accies were awared a penalty kick.

Megan Quinn would step up but she blazed over the bar and the game finished 3-1 to the women of steel.
