Eve Donald has joined the club from Dundee United for the 2023/24 campaign.

The 23-year-old defender featured 27 times for the Tangerines last season and played a vital role in securing their top-flight status.

“I’m very grateful for the opportunity to sign for Motherwell,” Eve Donald said.

“The goals and ambitions set by both coaches and players at this club is something I can’t wait to be a part of.”

“We are delighted to get Eve on board,” head coach Paul Brownlie.

“We identified her as one of our top targets during the transfer window, as she further enhances the quality of the squad.”

Donald becomes Brownlie’s fourth summer signing.

We will open our 2023/24 ScottishPower Women’s Premier League campaign away to Aberdeen on Sunday 13 August. 

Our first home match will be against Spartans on Sunday 20 August.

We will travel to Dundee United on Sunday 17 December prior to the winter shutdown and will face Hearts at home on Sunday 14 January when we return to action.

All fixtures are subject to change.

Morgan Hay has joined the club for the 2023/24 season. 

The former Hamilton Accies forward is our third addition of the summer window.

“We had targets who we wanted to get in this summer and Morgan was most definitely one of those,” head coach Paul Brownlie said.

“She has experience in this division and we feel, she has real quality and ability that can help progress this team.

“Another signing that will add competition for places in the team and that is what we want as it will push others in equal measure.”

Kaitlyn Canavan has joined Motherwell. 

Canavan joins having been with Partick Thistle for the first half of last season.

The 22-year-old is a forward but can also operate in the wider areas of the pitch.

“I feel like I needed a new challenge and fresh start,” Canavan said.

“I was here before when I was younger so I’m glad to be back and finally get this over the line. I feel ready to hit the ground running and see what we can achieve this season.”

Canavan becomes Paul Brownlie’s second summer signing.

“This a great feeling, to eventually confirm Kaitlyn’s arrival at Motherwell,” head coach Paul Brownlie said.

“She has shown incredible levels of professionalism and patience during the whole process and now she can get down to business.

“She has proven herself at the top level and she’ll bring real energy a goals to the team.”

Sarah Gibb is our first signing of the summer. 

After coming through the ranks at Glasgow City, centre-midfielder Gibb was promoted to the first-team squad last summer.

She went on to make 10 appearances last season for eventual league winners City.

“I’m absolutely delighted to have signed with Motherwell,” Sarah Gibb said.

“The opportunity to work with Paul, Leanne and all the other staff at the club was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.

“I’m so excited to meet all the girls and get to know them. I’m looking forward to having a very successful season together and have really great moments as a team.”

Gibb was part of the U19s side that took part in the Under 19s League Cup Final in 2022 and has lifted silverware at Under 15s National Performance Level.

“We’ve worked extremely hard over the summer to add quality to the squad and Sarah will provide further quality.

“A very talented young player, who we identified very early who has real experiences coming through at Glasgow City.”

Motherwell brought their 2022/23 campaign to a close after coasting past Aberdeen, concluding a successful season with a 3-0 victory at K-Park.

Carla Boyce recorded her seventh post-split goal to open the scoring before Kaela McDonald-Nguah netted on her return to action with an exceptional acrobatic finish.

Lori Gardner rounded off the afternoon and the season in style, converting an excellent team-move.

Manager, Paul Brownlie made two changes from the side that were narrowly defeated 2-3 by Spartans last weekend.

Katie Rice missed out through injury with Kayla Jardine returning to the starting XI whilst Emily Mutch returned to take her place in goal.

The hosts came close to breaking the deadlock after only 10-minutes.

Jardine’s free-kick from the edge of the penalty area curled accurately over the wall, forcing the Aberdeen stopper into an early save.

Captain, Gill Inglis came to the rescue minutes later, as her perfectly-timed slide tackle intercepted Bailey Hutchinson’s low-delivery before it could reach Francesca Ogilvie in the penalty area.

Motherwell thought they had opened the scoring moments later, as Chelsie Watson powered home Jardine’s floated delivery, but the linesman adjudged that the defender had strayed offside, leaving both sides level at the break.

The hosts flooded the Dons penalty area in search of an opener, and their efforts were soon rewarded.

Aberdeen failed to clear their lines with Boyce picking up the ball at the edge of the box, and the striker continued her recent goalscoring form, picking out the top-left corner after connecting perfectly on the half-volley.

Motherwell soon doubled their advantage, with McDonald-Nguah striking on her return from a recent injury spell on the side-lines.

Gardner’s dangerous corner kick caused the visiting defence problems, and lurking at the back post, McDonald-Nguah prodded home with an overhead-kick.

The women of steel sealed the 2022/23 campaign in style with a well-worked team goal.

A clever interchange of play allowed McDonald-Nguah the time to pick out Tiree Burchill, who’s clever first-touch fell kindly to Gardner, who buried her effort into the bottom-right corner.

Today’s result secures a fifth straight victory over Aberdeen, and rounds off a season of highs and lows, but so many signs of progression for Paul Brownlie’s side.
