Motherwell have signed striker Carla Boyce.

The 22-year-old, who can play across the front three, joins up after departing Hibernian last month, having netted six goals in 26 appearances for the Hibees.

“Carla is another big signing to further aid the development of this team,” head coach Paul Brownlie said.

“She was one of our main targets when I first arrived at Motherwell during the summer. She will add even more quality to a squad that’s really growing in confidence.

“Carla will add goals to this team, I’m excited to see what she can add to this team.”

Coming through the ranks at Glasgow City, and playing for Rangers and Hibernian, Boyce has established herself as a regular goalscorer and will look to add to her tally this season.

“I’m delighted to sign for Motherwell,” she added.

“I think the club is making great progress, which has been clear to see this season.”

Boyce will wear the number nine shirt for the rest of the season.

Motherwell return to action after two weeks off when they face title-chasing Rangers.

Kick-off at the Rangers Training Ground on Wednesday 3 November is at 8pm.

Rangers have won their last six matches with Motherwell.

Last time out, Rangers came away with a 5-0 victory in the group stages of the SWPL Cup.

Motherwell last took something from this fixture in April 2019, when they fought back from 3-0 down to take a point.

Motherwell have signed attacking midfielder Katie Rice.

Rice, who was most recently at Hibernian, left the Edinburgh side last month and is looking forward to being back in the claret and amber for the second time.

“I am extremely happy to be back at Motherwell,” Rice said.

“I love the direction the club is going in and I think it is really exciting to know I will be a part of it. I feel like I am back home.”

Katie Rice will wear the number 20 shirt this season.

“I’m delighted we have managed to get Katie on board,” head coach Paul Brownlie added.

“She adds to our attacking threat on the pitch and I’m really looking forward to seeing what she can produce.”

Rice left the ’Well in January after featuring for the club for two seasons, but has now completed her return.

Nicole Cairney has left Motherwell.

The winger returned to the club for her second stint this summer, joining from Hamilton Academical.

Having made nine appearances this season, her contract has now been cancelled by mutual consent.

The game has been moved due to a number of international call ups within the Rangers squad.

Motherwell cruised to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Hearts at Alliance Park on Sunday.

Leanne Crichton’s opener from the penalty spot and Kaela McDonald-Nguah’s second-half header sealed all three points for ‘the Well.

Motherwell applied the early pressure and were unfortunate not to open the scoring in the early stages.

Gill Inglis skilfully danced her way past several Hearts challenges before unleashing her long-range effort on goal, but Hearts goalkeeper Parker-Smith responded quickly to produce a smart save.

Minutes later, Crichton would come close to the opener following some excellent link-up play.

Lori Gardner’s clever backheel left Crichton free to release her strike at the edge of the box, but the experienced midfielder’s curling effort was superbly tipped over the bar by the keeper.

The visitors would come close to breaking the deadlock on the stroke of half-time. Maria Mcaneny’s in-swinging cross was knocked on by Amelia Birse, but Khym Ramsay reacted quickly to parry away the close-range attempt.

Hearts would again come close in the opening stages of the second half. An exceptional piece of skill from Mcaneny left her free on the left, before cutting inside and placing her effort into the top corner, but Ramsay again reacted quickly to make a comfortable save.

The women of steel would then take the lead from the penalty spot on the hour mark after Crichton was caught with a high challenge in the box. The midfielder stepped up and coolly slotted her strike into the bottom-right corner.

Motherwell would add a second in the latter stages of the game. Crichton’s floated corner was superbly met by McDonald-Nguah, who powered her headed effort past the keeper into the top-right corner.

The win pushes Motherwell up into sixth in the league table, five points shy of fourth-placed Hibernian.

The team will be full of confidence as they travel to face Rangers next week, with three clean sheets and three games unbeaten on the bounce.

Motherwell face off against Hearts next in SWPL1 on Sunday 17 October at Alliance Park.

Kick-off is 4pm.

Motherwell battled hard to earn a well-deserved point against Spartans at Ainslie Park on Sunday.

Both sides would be provided with several opportunities throughout. However, neither side could apply the finishing touch.

The forward skilfully rounded Khym Ramsay but couldn’t apply the finishing touch as she fired wide of the empty net.

Motherwell would come agonisingly close to the opener on the half hour mark.

Motherwell came close to the winner late on. Crichton’s whipped in free kick was brilliantly met by Claire Crosbie at the back post, but the defender’s powerful headed effort fell wide of the Spartans goal.

This result will be a real confidence boost for Motherwell as they continue to build on last week’s derby day result over Hamilton.

Paul Brownlie’s side may feel slightly aggrieved to have not found the winner as they controlled large parts of the game.

Motherwell look to continue their winning ways when they come up against Spartans this Sunday at Ainslie Park.

Training sessions will take place in the Motherwell area, two nights per week and with weekly matches taking place within the Scottish Women’s Football youth leagues.

Working closely with the highly experienced Motherwell coaching staff through regular in-service training, there will be opportunities to progress within the club.

We are looking for someone who can inspire and motivate players, has good communication skills, good knowledge of the game and has high standards.

The candidates must be reliable, ambitious, creative and be positive role models for the players.
