A deflated Stuart McCall couldn’t hide disappointment as Motherwell lost out to La Liga side Levante in the Play-off Round of the UEFA Europa League.
Despite playing well in patches and giving 100% effort from the first minute, Motherwell were largely outclassed by a superior side from a superior league.
A goal in either half gave the visitors a commanding lead to take back to Spain for the retun leg and McCall knows his men face a mammoth task to turn the tie around.

He told MFC TV: “We’re disappointed that we never got the heights that we did against Panathinaikos.
“They were the better side technically and kept the ball really well but having said that we weren’t as good as I’d have liked us to be.
“We’re playing a side that beat Real Madrid so we aren’t playing mugs. They’re a class outfit not only on the ball but defensively very strong.
“The first fifteen minutes we got ahead of steam with some balls across the box. Henrik’s had a chance but the defender has made a really good last ditch tackle but in fairness our possession of the ball wasn’t good enough and they were far better than us.”
