Aston Oxborough joined Motherwell in the summer of 2022 having been on trial and had to bide his time for minutes on the pitch. 

Continually pushing Liam Kelly for a spot in the sticks, Oxborough got his chance in July 2023 against Queen of the South. The match would go to penalties and the 6″5 stopper saved Queen’s fifth penalty to earn his side the bonus point.

He would start against East Fife in the final group-stage Viaplay Cup match two weeks later, keeping a clean sheet in a 3-0 win.
