Aston Oxborough joined Motherwell in the summer of 2022 having been on trial and had to bide his time for minutes on the pitch. 

Continually pushing Liam Kelly for a spot in the sticks, Oxborough got his chance in July 2023 against Queen of the South. The match would go to penalties and the 6″5 stopper saved Queen’s fifth penalty to earn his side the bonus point.

He would start against East Fife in the final group-stage Viaplay Cup match two weeks later, keeping a clean sheet in a 3-0 win.

After spending his second season at the club as second choice, Liam Kelly would depart the club in the summer of 2024 which would present Oxborough with his chance to impress. Impress he did, and after a hugely impressive start to the 24/25 season, he signed his second contract extension in four months keeping him at the club until June 2027.
