Stephen Robinson will be banned from the dugout for Motherwell’s next three matches.
The manager admitted a breach of disciplinary rule 203 during the match with Rangers at Ibrox in November.
A judicial panel hearing at Hampden on Thursday ruled he should serve a suspension.
A further suspended ban of two games has also been handed down, and will automatically come into effect if Robinson breaches the same rule again before the end of the 2019/20 season.
Motherwell suffered defeat in Glasgow, going down 3-0 to Celtic as a result of three first half goals.
Anthony Ralston, Scott Sinclair and Mikey Johnston got the goals as the champions went back to the top of the table.
Conor Sammon, Andy Rose and Mark Gillespie were left frustrated by the manner in which Motherwell conceded goals, despite an organised performance at Celtic Park.
Two goals in quick succession, as well as a strike on the stroke of half time, left the Steelmen trailing by three at the break.
Stephen Robinson was left to lament errors and his side’s failure to “be brave on the ball”, particularly in the first half of their 3-0 loss to Celtic.
The Steelmen started organised at the champions, but were outdone by three goals before the interval to consign them to defeat.
A much-changed Motherwell side suffered defeat in Glasgow on Wednesday night, going down 3-0 at Celtic.
First half goals from Anthony Ralston, Scott Sinclair and Mikey Johnston did the damage, as the Steelmen lost the first game in a busy 11 day and four-match period.
Stephen Robinson made five changes from the side which ended St Johnstone’s long unbeaten run at the weekend.
Andy Rose, Alex Rodriguez Gorrín, Gaël Bigirimana, Ryan Bowman and Conor Sammon all came in. Christian Mbulu, David Turnbull, Allan Campbell, Danny Johnson and Curtis Main all dropped out.
Celtic made just one change from the team which lost at Hibernian on Sunday, with Anthony Ralston replacing Mikael Lustig at right back.
Sammon was presented with the first main chance, as a long driven ball from McHugh found him in behind the Celtic defence.
Gordon rushed out to deal with it but it looked for a second like the Irishman might just beat him to it to clip the ball home, but the goalkeeper cleared up.
Ntcham was next to try his luck from the edge of the area, but his shot was deflected marginally past the post by Aldred, as Gillespie dived in vain to make the save.
Gillespie did make a crucial intervention as the first half reached its halfway point. A slack pass backwards played in Sinclair, who was immediately swarmed by claret shirts.
The winger managed to get a near post shot away, which the ‘keeper did well to turn away with his feet.
With Motherwell keeping the shape well, they were to be undone minutes later. Edouard slipped through Ralston, with the right back managing to sneak in behind Dunne and steer the ball under Gillespie and in.
Soon after, it was two. Dunne clattered Forrest wide in the box, leaving Bobby Madden with no option but to point to the spot.
Sinclair stepped up against a goalkeeper who had saved two from his last two penalties, but the Englishman found the bottom left corner, with Gillespie inches from getting his hand on it.
The visitors struggled to stem the tide, and they would go three behind before the break. Youngster Johnston, on as a substitute, hit a dipping shot which beat the Motherwell keeper all ends up and found the net via the underside of the crossbar.
Campbell and Taylor-Sinclair replaced Bigirimana and Bowman at the interval, as manager Robinson changed shape and looked to get a foothold back in the match.
A tepid second half saw both sides have one or two half chances, with Motherwell finding some joy higher up the pitch and growing in confidence on the ball, but couldn’t make a telling impact.
Motherwell’s February trip to face Celtic has been put back by 24 hours.
The game will now be played on Sunday, February 24. Kick off is still at 3pm.
Celtic’s participation in the UEFA Europa League, where they will face Valencia, is the reason for the rescheduling.
Motherwell are in Glasgow on Wednesday night, as they take on Celtic.

Kieran Tierney, Dedryck Boyata, Mikael Lustig and Tom Rogic are doubts. Nir Bitton is back in full training. Ryan Christie, Leigh Griffiths, Eboue Kouassi and Daniel Arzani are out.

Motherwell travel to Celtic Park for the first time this season on the back of a well-earned win against St Johnstone.
Brendan Rodgers’ side find themselves one point behind league leaders Rangers with a game in hand as they get set for the visit of the Steelmen.
Here, we take a look at the side from Glasgow.
After slipping to a 2-0 defeat against Hibernian at the weekend, Celtic will be hungry to bounce back as they host Motherwell.
With competition at the top of the Ladbrokes Premiership, the Hoops find themselves more tested than in recent campaigns, and will be hoping for a big performance on Wednesday night.
Although the Glaswegians will be hoping for a reaction from their defeat at the weekend, they will need to do so without some key players.
Ryan Christie’s fine form was brought to an abrupt end when he sustained what looked to be a bad leg injury, however the knock does not look as bad as first feared.
Leigh Griffiths will of course be absent, after announcing he would take a break from football.
Celtic may have slipped up on the road at times this season, but their home form in recent weeks has been as strong as ever.
In their previous three home domestic matches, the club have won all three games against tough opposition like Kilmarnock, Hearts and Hibs.
Perhaps more impressively, they’ve scored 14 goals and conceded just three.
