    Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 Motherwell

Motherwell took on Spurs in London as they stepped up their preparations ahead of their cinch Premiership return in eight days time.

The hosts ran out 4-0 winners with goals coming from Dejan Kulusevski, Bryan Gil and a brace from Matt Doherty.

Steven Hammell named a strong starting eleven however made life difficult for themselves and found themselves one down after just three minutes.

A stray back pass from Stephen O’Donnell found Kulusevski who made no mistake and finished past Liam Kelly.

Connor Shields was unfortunate not to level the game when the Tottenham goalkeeper Brandon Austin saw his clearance blocked by the forward and the ball ricochet inches wide of the post.

Four minutes later however, it was 2-0. A move from back to front from Spurs ended with Docherty in space at the back post, he cut inside onto his right foot and finished past Liam Kelly.

Our skipper was called into action moments later when Gil’s effort was well saved by our number one.

It was a third for the hosts just before half time, when Gil had a tap in after good work from Kulusevski.

During the second period, Hammell made changes throughout the half which saw plenty Motherwell youth players get game time.

Despite pushing for a goal themselves, Docherty got his second of the game from a corner on 71 minutes to make it 4-0.

Sean Goss went close from a deflected free kick which went narrowly wide for a corner.

Ross Tierney was next to try his luck after good work from winger Josh Morris, who set the Irishman up but he couldn’t find the back of the net from inside the box.

Tottenham Hotspur- Austin (Whiteman 58), Tanganga (Dorrington 75), Sanchez (Fagan-Walcott 75), Sayers (Mundle 75), Spence (Paskotsi 75), Bissouma (John 75), Skipp (Devine 75), Doherty, Kulusevski (Lankshear 75), White (Donley 75), Bryan (Santiago 75). Substitutes (not used): Robson.

    Max Johnston

Max Johnston continued his fine run of form with another 90 minutes for Cove Rangers at Balmoral Stadium against Partick Thistle.

The full-back assisted Mitchel Megginson for the opener in the game after six minutes.

Partick Thistle equalised at the death in dramatic fashion as the Thistle stopper Jamie Sneddon headed in to snatch a point on the road.

    Robbie Mahon

Robbie Mahon was an unused sub for Dunfermline as they drew 1-1 with Queen of the South.

    Ewan Wilson

Albion Rovers couldn’t make it five games unbeaten in League 2 as the Wee Rovers lost 1-0 to Forfar.

Ewan Wilson played the full 90 in the backline but a first half Ben Armour goal was enough for Forfar to claim the win.

    Logan Dunachie

East Kilbride were in Lowland League action against Gala Fairydean Rovers as they looked to push for top spot in the league.

Logan Dunachie was named at the heart of the defence in what was an action packed encounter. The defender played the full 90 minutes and despite being 2-1 down at the interval, Kilby won the game 5-4 on the road and are now third in the league.

    Daniel Hunter

Cumbernauld Colts snatched a late point against Spartans at Broadwood on Saturday.

    Scottish Cup fourth round draw

    Scottish Cup fourth round draw

We have been drawn to play Arbroath at Gayfield Park in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup.

The tie will be played on the weekend of Saturday, 21 January 2023.

The two sides last met way back in 2000, where Motherwell needed a replay to see off The Red Lichties.

Horrendous winds meant the first attempt at playing the game got abandoned at half-time. When it was finally played, Don Goodman opened the scoring but it was cancelled out by 40-year-old veteran Tommy Bryce. In the replay, goals from Don Goodman and Lee McCulloch saw the Steelmen eventually through to the fourth round, avoiding a banana-skin against a part-time team.

Matt Penney is the November Player of the Month

Matt Penney is your player of the month for November.

The full-back on loan from Ipswich scoops his second player of the month award since arriving at the club in August.

He has played every minute since his debut against Inverness in the Premier Sports cup.

It was Penney’s touch that setup Louis Moult at Tynecastle, when the striker won the penalty against Hearts.

Motherwell take on Hamilton Accies on Sunday 27 November at New Douglas Park in SWPL 1.

    Kick-off is 4pm.

    How to follow the game

Tickets for the game cost £5 for an adult, with children and concession tickets costing £2.

    Story of the match

It’s the first meeting between the two sides this season as the Women of Steel look to build on a fine win over Aberdeen last weekend.

Both teams have one win in their last five, with Motherwell sitting two points above Accies.

Accies have shipped 13 goals in their last three home games, against high-flying Glasgow City, Partick Thistle and Hearts.

A win for Motherwell would help them stay in the chase for a position in the top half of the league.

Max Johnston // Representing his country

In what had already been a successful season for Max Johnston, the full-back received the call every player wants.

One from his country saying he has been called up for international duty.

Although this was his first time in the Scotland Under 21 squad, the 19-year-old was more than up to the task and got straight to work in camp.

With a friendly match against Iceland at Fir Park ahead, Johnston found out he was not only in the match day squad but starting.

Despite a mixture of nerves and excitement, the Cove Rangers loanee netted the opener for Scotland in the first half in front of his parents and friends in the crowd.

Although it was defeat for Scotland on the night, it was a victory for Max Johnston who made the next step in his already promising career.
