Guide to get the best live streaming experience

Guide to get the best live streaming experience

We want to make sure you get the best possible picture when watching our live stream of games.

Our guide should help you overcome any difficulties you encounter. Should this guide not address your issue, please email MotherwellTV@Streamdigital.TV.

Remember – if you’re a season ticket holder, you will need to create a new account to watch PPV matches, such as our Betfred Cup game with St Johnstone.

    Requirements

    What do I need?

For access to the live streaming, your device should comply with the following minimum system requirements or else you may experience issues such as ghosting, low frame rates, pixelation, low-quality sound, poor picture quality and/or stuttering.

    • CPU i5 or higher; (b) 8GB memory; (c) Operating Systems: Windows 7+, Mac OS X 10.7+, iOS 11.3 or higher; and (d) newest version of Google Chrome, Firefox, MS Edge, or Safari (with JavaScript enabled). Other browsers may work but are unsupported.
    • Apple iPads and iPhones: You must have iOS 11.3 or higher installed and you must use Safari to watch the live broadcast on Apple devices.
    • Android devices: The live broadcast also works on most modern and up to date Android devices, including tablets, smartphones and Smart TVs. If your device does not function properly it could be unsupported. Please try another device.

    QUALITY

    My stream is buffering

The quality of the live broadcast stream will be dependent on the bandwidth and speed of your internet connection. For the best possible experience, we recommend using an internet speed of at least 5Mbps. Please check with your internet provider.

It can help to close other tabs, browsers, and programs while streaming your content. It may also help to hardwire your internet connection, instead of using a wireless network connection.

You can also amend the stream quality by selecting the small cog icon at the bottom of the video player. From there, you can change from auto quality to fixed.

    SMART TVs

It’s not working through my smart tv?

If you are trying to watch the broadcast directly through the browser on your Smart TV, we cannot guarantee this will work. There are so many variations on the market with different browsers and firmware that one TV by a manufacturer may be different from another TV by the same manufacturer.

If you can download Google Chrome on your Smart TV it should help. But, again, this is no guarantee. The best way to watch through your TV is to connect a device to it using an HDMI cable.

What do I do if I am having problems with my Live Broadcast Stream on a matchday?

There are three different video player links located under the main video player.

All our video links offer adaptive streaming, which means it will always try to give you the highest quality. Sometimes this may not be the best option for your device, internet provider or home network so we recommend trying them all.

Depending on what you choose you may notice a drop in quality, but it can provide a steadier stream with less buffering.

Our support team will be in place on a matchday to help with any enquiries. Please use the ‘Contact us’ button located at the top of the site in the header section.

Any issues with the broadcast will be announced through the club Twitter feed and social channels.

    PPV

Why am I getting an ‘invalid credentials’ message?

When you purchase the PPV stream through the PPV site, you need to ensure that you watch the game on the same site. Your PPV credentials will not work on the regular live site and vice versa. To avoid this please bookmark the PPV site after you purchase it.

Logged in on one device but not accepted on the other?

If you purchase the match pass on one device, for example, your phone, but wish to watch it on another, say your laptop, then you will need to ensure that you have fully logged out before logging back in.

To do this, click sign out on your phone and then refresh the page. Then you can log in on the other device. If you are still having trouble, please clear your cache and cookies on your browsers for both devices and retry logging in.

    KICKED OUT

The most likely reason you will be kicked out of the video stream of the live game will be because someone else has logged with your details as you. You will need to ask the other person to stop logging in as you if you wish to continue watching the game uninterrupted.

Another reason could be that your connection is not strong enough to live stream the match. In this instance please try resetting your router and closing all open tabs on your device and log in again.

    Can I Cast?

You should be able to screenshare the live broadcast to compatible Smart TVs using an app such as Chromecast or Apple Airplay.

Android devices to Android TVs seem to be working well and links one, two and four work well for this.

Apple / iOS devices work via AirPlay with Apple TVs. Apple / iOS devices to Android TVs seem to be causing some issues. We would recommend using a cabled HDMI solution for this to ensure the stream works for you or staying on your iOS device.

As an alternative, laptops & MacBooks offer casting options too and people are reporting success through Firesticks using the browser Amazon Silk.

Chromecast should work with one of the links if you are connecting from an Android device to your Chromecast device. From testing, links one, two and four should display the Chromecast icon on the player if your Android device is on the same network as your Chromecast.

Apple have disabled their iOS devices from directly working with Chromecast through the web and you will have to download an app from their App Store. There are many to choose from and we cannot recommend any 1in particular but we have tested a few with success. Please be aware some of these apps have ads running within them and these are not coming from our site and we in no way endorse any or all of these products.

Again, for Apple/iOS devices, if you want to connect to your TV please also consider an HDMI cable.

    NOT SEEING ANYTHING?

Why am I not seeing anything / a white box?

If you are not seeing anything or see a white screen displayed, this tends to be a browser issue, log out, close the browser completely and try an alternative browser. We suggest Google Chrome as it tends to be easy to use.

You may need to update your browser, the most common browsers are Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Safari and Firefox. A simple Google query will help you find the correct place to update your browser.

Anti-virus/security software can also block the video player and you will need to temporarily disable this software during the match before you login. VPNs and proxies will also interfere with the website and again will need to be disabled before logging in.

You may also be logging into the wrong site that has the same login details as another site.

Live streaming issues from Rangers friendly

Live streaming issues from Rangers friendly

We are aware that a number of fans experienced difficulties connecting to our live streaming service on Wednesday night.

Firstly, we apologise if you were unable to watch all – or part – of the match with Rangers, which was used as a fixture to test out the service.

There were a combination of factors which caused some of you to be unable to get on.

Firstly, the unexpected late change to the kick-off time caused issues, as resources had to be quickly redeployed to allow the stream to be able to be broadcast. This was not an easy task, but our providers did everything within their power to ensure we were able to carry the match.

Planned maintenance on the streaming servers was also due to take place at 8pm and, unfortunately, this could not be immediately rescheduled, which caused some of you to be unable to get onto the live website for a spell around that time.

Both of these factors were out of the ordinary and we are confident things will be smoother for our first home league match against Dundee United.

If you are experiencing any problems with your username and password in trying to log in to the service, please email tvsupport@motherwellfc.co.uk as soon as possible, so that you are set up for the opening game at Fir Park.

Kick-off in our friendly match at Rangers has been moved to 8pm.

The game will still be broadcast on Premier Sports in the UK, and to our season ticket holders and international viewers through our live streaming service.

As things stand, both clubs are waiting for the outcome of some of their Covid-19 tests but have been told that we will receive them prior to kick off.

Season ticket holder live stream information

Season ticket holder live stream information

As things stand, we will be starting the season behind closed doors.

Until that changes, season ticket holders can watch a live stream of all of our league games at Fir Park.

Plus, we’re trying out the service by giving season ticket holders free access to watch our friendly at Rangers on Wednesday 22 July.

Kick-off is at 6pm. But please, if you’re eligible, please sign in to the service in advance so you can test it out.

An opportunity to talk to others

An opportunity to talk to others

The last few months have been particularly tough on many of us.

Motherwell FC’s Community Trust, together with Time to Tackle and supported by Paycare, are hosting a Zoom call on Wednesday 15 July at 7pm for anyone to come on and share their experiences, or listen to others.

On the call, the group’s founder Aaron Connolly will tell his story of his battle with poor mental health. His organisation exists to help tackle poor mental health, poor physical health, stigma and loneliness using the power of football and peer support.

You can also learn about how we will work together to provide further support for our fans and our local community.

To take part, download the Zoom app. The meeting ID is 830 4902 4137 and the password is 109457.

You don’t have to share your audio or video to take part. You can just come on and listen if you prefer.

    Pat Quinn (1936-2020)

We are saddened to hear of the death of Pat Quinn at the age of 84.

One of the club’s famous Ancell Babes, the inside forward made 251 appearances for the club between 1955 and 1962, scoring 119 goals.

Quinn was a star man in the side, and would receive international recognition through four Scotland caps during his time at Fir Park.

He would be sold to Blackpool in 1962 for £34,000, a significant sum for the times. He also went on to play for Hibernian and East Fife.

Our thoughts are with Pat’s family and friends at this time.

Six ways you can improve your financial health

Six ways you can improve your financial health

Across the country, we are facing unprecedented times.

For many of us, as a community, country and a human race collectively, it may be our toughest challenge yet. Pulling together yet staying apart.

Now that you have exhausted all the online workouts, Zoom events and mid-morning yoga options… what do you do with all this time at home?

Our partners SRB Wealth Management offer six ways you can improve your financial health.

What if you spent time being financially forward thinking?

We have a rare opportunity to take time to get to grips with, re-evaluate and make improvements for our future finances. Doing those little jobs that we put aside, because other daily tasks get in the way, gives you a sense of achievement, control and the knowing that you’re making progress toward a better financial future.

The team at SRB put their heads together  – virtually, of course – and came up with some simple but effective things that you can do at home, to improve your financial health during this ‘stay at home’ period of time.

    1. Dig out that paperwork

We all get annual statements about our ISAs, pensions, life assurance, savings and bonds and we are often guilty of sticking them in a drawer, either because they don’t make a lot of sense to us or we don’t have time to look at them. Now is that time. Dig out those statements and take a long hard look at them. Understand them and make sure you’re comfortable with what they’re telling you.

Don’t lose sight of key financial dates, such as tax year beginning or end. Longer term financial plans may not be a current priority. But opportunities to invest and take advantage of these dates shouldn’t be ignored.

    2. Do your sums

If you have a retirement income goal in mind, think about how much you’d need to save each month, from now, to hit that target, taking into consideration the effects of inflation.

Are you saving the right amount? If not, think about what you can do to make that happen.

Find out how much you might have in your state pension, using the state pension forecasting service, and consider whether that’s enough for you to live the retirement life you’d like.

    3. Track down those lost pension pots

If you’ve worked for more than one company during your career, then it’s likely that you’ve paid into different workplace pensions. Make use of the Pension Tracing Service to help track down what you’ve paid and to where. All you need is the names of companies who have employed you – even if the company no longer exists.

Please note: This service will only tell you the name of the provider, but you can then get in touch and request the detailed information. Once you know what you have and where, you can consider whether to leave as is or consolidate, depending on the type of pension and your personal circumstances.

    4. Review your energy outgoings

This often creates a big ‘sigh’ in most households under normal circumstances, because it takes time to review and research. But if you haven’t reviewed your suppliers and rates either for your home, or your business, now is the time to do it. Energy prices are favourable at the moment, but wont be forever.

Compare rates across a number of suppliers using comparison sites, or check their offers directly to find the best deal for you. You could free up some money that could be better placed elsewhere.

If you’re unsure of the service or reputation of some suppliers, for impartial information and advice on household and business energy from Britain’s energy regulator, check out the Ofgem website.

    5. Ensure your protection is adequate

It’s a given that we protect our material possessions – car, home, phone, even holidays. But many people overlook protecting their income, or their family’s ability to survive without it.

Protection is fundamental. It may not be the most exciting of subjects, but it addresses one of our most basic desires – to keep safe all that we hold dear.

Take the time to consider whether your existing protection is right for your current circumstances. Is it cover you no longer need? Are you under insuring yourself? If you don’t have cover, think about how that looks should the worst happen.

    6. Look at your current mortgage arrangement

A mortgage is often your biggest financial commitment. Can you ease that burden in the short term, or make it work better for you in the longer term?

Consider whether the mortgage payment holiday on offer is suitable for you. Look at your current rate, when did you last review this?

Look ahead at your plans for the property. Do you want to make changes, or are you considering moving house in the future?

Take steps toward a better financial future

Using this time to take action and make small but important changes to your finances offers many benefits.

You might improve your financial position for the future. You’ll certainly get a few things off that ‘to do’ list and it’ll give you a great sense of achievement. It also puts you in control, when much around you is out of your hands.

There’s always time to speak to your Financial Adviser

If you have a Financial Adviser, you don’t have to wait to see them face to face to discuss any concerns or questions over your portfolio.

A good FA will be there to support you during this unsettling time, to go over any concerns and relay market information. Review your portfolio and see where you could make improvements by moving or changing things around.

Your adviser is likely to be working from home too, so will be available for a chat on the phone. Take this time to discuss your existing investments, bonds, ISAs and Personal Pensions or to simply get an update of where things are. They’re in a great position to keep you up to date with what’s happening with your investments.

Take this time to look after your future. If you’d like to speak to a member of the team about wealth management, retirement planning or Inheritance Tax planning, contact SRB Wealth Management on 01698 536064 or email srbwealth@sjpp.co.uk.

Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.

The value of an investment with St. James’s Place will be directly linked to the performance of the funds you select and the value can therefore go down as well as up. You may get back less than you invested.

SRB Wealth Management Ltd is an Appointed Representative of and represents only St. James’s Place Wealth Management plc (which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority) for the purpose of advising solely on the group’s wealth management products and services, more details of which are set out on the group’s website www.sjp.co.uk/products.
