    Paycare are our new official shorts sponsor

    Motherwell Football Club have another new sponsorship partner, bringing on board England-based health cash plan provider Paycare.

    The first sponsor of its kind in Scotland, Paycare are a leading not-for-profit organisation which provides cashback on everyday healthcare costs, as well as wider mental, financial and physical support.

    Paycare will become the club’s health and wellbeing partner, as well as being the official shorts sponsor, for seasons 2018/19 and 2019/20.

    As former back of shirt sponsors of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Paycare is the first English organisation to sponsor a Scottish Premiership team, and the first health cash plan provider to promote its services in Scotland.

    “After researching organisations sponsoring English teams, we came across Paycare through their sponsorship of Wolverhampton Wanderers and were immediately drawn to them,” Suzanne Reid, head of commercial and marketing at Motherwell Football Club, explained.

    “Their not-for-profit status, ethos of giving back to the communities it serves, and the very nature of what they do to help people from a health and wellbeing perspective really resonated with us. We’re very much looking forward to working with them in the months and years to come.”

    Paycare dates back to 1874 in Wolverhampton and was set up by the foremen of some of the city’s largest factories in a bid to protect their employees from crippling medical bills, and growing to become a leading provider in the UK.

    It works with families, businesses and individuals to provide cashback on services from physiotherapy, reflexology and chiropody, to optical, dental, and vaccinations, as well as wider inclusive support such as a confidential counselling and support service, GP 24/7 app, Paycare Perks – an exclusive online discount platform – and Paycare Partners, which is a dedicated signposting service.

    “We’re delighted to be sponsoring Motherwell Football Club,” added Kevin Rogers, CEO of Paycare.

    “Given their community ethos and as the Scottish Premiership’s only fully fan-owned club, as well as our drive to make a positive difference to the communities that we serve, our partnership was a natural next step with brilliant synergy.”

    As a not-for-profit, Paycare has shared over £2.2m to-date with charities, causes and initiatives UK-wide by donating every spare penny not spent on enhancing its services to policyholders – seeing its stakeholders making a positive difference to their local communities.

    Bars open ahead of Queen of the South game

    The Cooper Bar and the Centenary Suite will be open for pre-match food and drink ahead of our match with Queen of the South on Tuesday night.

    Our usual pre-match hospitality will not be in operation. Food can be purchased before the game and access to the bars will be available before and after the match, as well as at half time.

    Opposition fans are also welcome. The bars will open from 5.30pm.

    Season cards now available to collect

    Season ticket holders will be able to get their hands on their new season cards from Monday, 23 July.

    Supporters who have chosen to collect their cards from Fir Park will be able to do so during normal office hours from Monday.

    If you have chosen to have your card delivered, we will commence deliveries on Monday.

    Your new season card is credit card sized and comes with a barcode, which will be scanned at the gate when you enter Fir Park. Cards contain information on which gate to enter via, as well as displaying your seat details.

    Collections on Tuesday night before Queen of the South

    If you plan to collect your season card in the hours before the match with Queen of the South, you can get it from the Centenary Suite from 5.30pm right up until kick off.

    The ticket office will be open only for match ticket sales or for season ticket purchases.

    Don’t overpay on the train to Stranraer

    If you are taking the train to Stranraer on Saturday, make sure you don’t pay more than you need to.

    If you choose Motherwell as your origin station when purchasing, and Stranraer as your destination, you will be charged £47.50 for an adult return.

    Alternatively, you can currently purchase a return ticket online from Motherwell to Glasgow Central, which will cost £4.90, and then separately buy a return from Glasgow Central to Stranraer, which will cost £21.80.

    In total, at the time of writing, you will save £20.80 if you purchase your tickets this way. You will experience no difference in terms of your travel if you purchase at the cheaper cost.

    Scotrail have told us that differences on fares on certain routes is responsible for the higher price. By booking two separate journeys, you can avoid it.

    We need to talk about suicide

    In just a matter of a few months, a number of young people in North Lanarkshire have taken their own lives.

    Last year, 40 people in North Lanarkshire were lost to suicide. Young men in particular are affected, with the suicide rate for males three times more than females.

    Nobody wants to talk about suicide. But we need to change that.

    If you’re reading this and feel low, we want you to know that everybody feels low sometimes. We all face difficult situations in our lives. That applies to everyone, whether they are our friends and family, supporters and even footballers.

    Suicide is not the answer. There is always another way. Help is available. You are not alone. We know it is not always easy to talk but you are contemplating this, please open up to someone.

    Our players, our manager Stephen Robinson and everyone at Motherwell Football Club are determined to play a part in preventing any more lives being lost. Everyone in our community is important to us. We want you to be able to talk and find another way.

    Club extend Suicide Prevention partnership

    Motherwell Football Club are backing efforts to tackle suicide and the dreadful consequences it can have for families and communities.

    In season 2018/19, we will continue to display the the Suicide Prevention North Lanarkshire logo on the back of our first team jerseys. Our reserve team will also follow suit.

    In partnership with North Lanarkshire Council, the club will also be displaying prominent suicide prevention messages and helpline information around Fir Park during matches.

    Almost one person every week dies by suicide in North Lanarkshire. As a club, we pledge to support Suicide Prevention North Lanarkshire to help raise awareness that help is available for those who need it.

    “We work with Motherwell FC on a number of local initiatives and this partnership is vital in helping raise awareness around this sensitive area,” council deputy leader Paul Kelly said.

    “Suicide devastates lives across Scotland every day of every week. It is vital that if people are feeling suicidal or down that they know help is available. We need to let people know it helps to talk if you are feeling worried or concerned.

    “By working together we can have a greater impact in preventing suicide.”

    Lynne MacDonald, senior social work officer with North Lanarkshire Council, added: “This partnership with Motherwell FC means we can use football as a means to reach out to more people to reduce suicide.

    “We want to make people aware that there is lots of help available if they are concerned about suicide or are worried about friends or family members.

    “By raising awareness of how to recognise the signs sometimes associated with suicide, people will be in a better position to offer support and perhaps save lives.”

    Alan Burrows, chief executive at Motherwell FC said: “Suicide has sadly impacted our club and our community on many different levels.

    “Former players, staff and their families and, most recently, friends and supporters have been affected in someway over the years.

    “We’ve always tried to raise awareness. We need to – and will – double our efforts going forward.”

    Suzanne Reid, head of commercial and marketing at Motherwell FC added: “It is important to us as a club, and a central part of this community, to continue our support for this initiative.

    “Suicide affects so many families in this area, and has had a direct impact on young supporters’ families in recent months. We want everyone to know that support is out there, and the first step towards it is to talk to someone.”

    Motherwell host Edinburgh City on Tuesday night and the game will give us the opportunity to test out our new access control system.

    If you’ve pre-purchased a ticket for the game, we ask that you use turnstiles in each stand that are marked for pre-paid tickets. This will allow us to scan your ticket and ensure all is operating smoothly.

    If you haven’t got a ticket, you can still purchase yours online now. Please note that our print at home option is not available for this match and tickets must be collected from the ticket office.

    Alternatively, you can pay at the gate. Tickets are priced at £12 for adults and £6 for concessions.

    Edinburgh City fans will be housed in the Phil O’Donnell main stand.

    Tickets for our two home matches in the 2018/19 Betfred Cup are now available to buy online.

    Motherwell host Edinburgh City on Tuesday, 17 July in their first competitive match of the campaign, before Queen of the South are visitors to Fir Park a week later.

    Adult tickets are priced at £12, while concessions can get in for £6. You can buy yours online right now.

    We encourage all fans to buy early and make use of our new online ticket platform. Our print at home function is not available for these two matches but you can have your match ticket posted to you, or collect it from the ticket office.

    Pay at the gate will also be available on the day.

    Introducing the new Motherwell FC website

    Welcome to the new website of Motherwell Football Club.

    After extensive development and consultation with supporters over what they expect from their club website, we’ve worked with Scottish web development agency mtc to bring you our new offering.

    Our previous website and server were not befitting of the strides we have taken as a club both on and off the pitch. Through our conversations with you, the fans, you told us that:

    • Information on the first team was the main reason you visited
    • You wanted more insight into the first team and more content around them
    • Buying tickets online was also important, leading to the launch of our ticketing platform this summer
    • A new, modern website that was fit for purpose in the current digital age was essential
    • A responsive mobile website was critical, with 67% of those surveyed saying they visited the website on their mobile devices

    The new website is based around those fundamental points. The main content you will see every time you visit will be geared around the first team matches and players, with fresh interviews, features, behind-the-scenes content and more on a daily basis, whether that’s in written, video or audio form.

    Club websites can be cluttered. We wanted to strip things down so that you see only what the majority are interested in on first glance. But there are still lots of areas that are vitally important to the club, and we’ve organised these better through our new navigation system, that makes it quicker and easier to find the items you need.

    Our new site will also help us grow the business, with the ability to sell tickets and hospitality, increase opportunities for digital sponsorships and better promote the sale of club merchandise. It is also hosted on a new server which will be able to handle large volumes of traffic.

    “This is an important day for Motherwell FC as we step up our digital offering,” communications manager Grant Russell said.

    “Our supporters have told us exactly what they expect from our website, and we’ve looked to reflect that in what we are launching today.

    “Our previous offering had become not fit for purpose and it was important we took the time to properly investigate and then design a website that would best serve the club and its supporters.

    “We have a lot of innovative features and we’ve spent a lot of time on the user experience, making it as easy as possible to find the information you want as easily as possible. We are also now able to integrate our website with our new ticketing system, meaning it is now possible to buy tickets for matches through our website in just a few clicks.

    “There are a number of features still to follow that will even further enhance our website for our fans that we will announce shortly.”

    Ryan McGinnis, lead designer on the project at mtc, added: “We are delighted to present the new club website after months of collaborative research, design and development between Motherwell & mtc,”

    “Our primary aim was to establish a highly engaging fan experience by placing supporters at the forefront of the digital journey. We have created a system that allows users to effortlessly find key content and can withstand the technical pressures expected of a progressive, traffic-heavy football club.

    “We’re thrilled to welcome the club to our ever growing sports line-up and look forward to growing our digital partnership with Motherwell FC.”
