Introducing the new Motherwell FC website

Introducing the new Motherwell FC website

Welcome to the new website of Motherwell Football Club.

After extensive development and consultation with supporters over what they expect from their club website, we’ve worked with Scottish web development agency mtc to bring you our new offering.

Our previous website and server were not befitting of the strides we have taken as a club both on and off the pitch. Through our conversations with you, the fans, you told us that:

    • Information on the first team was the main reason you visited
    • You wanted more insight into the first team and more content around them
    • Buying tickets online was also important, leading to the launch of our ticketing platform this summer
    • A new, modern website that was fit for purpose in the current digital age was essential
    • A responsive mobile website was critical, with 67% of those surveyed saying they visited the website on their mobile devices

The new website is based around those fundamental points. The main content you will see every time you visit will be geared around the first team matches and players, with fresh interviews, features, behind-the-scenes content and more on a daily basis, whether that’s in written, video or audio form.

Club websites can be cluttered. We wanted to strip things down so that you see only what the majority are interested in on first glance. But there are still lots of areas that are vitally important to the club, and we’ve organised these better through our new navigation system, that makes it quicker and easier to find the items you need.

Our new site will also help us grow the business, with the ability to sell tickets and hospitality, increase opportunities for digital sponsorships and better promote the sale of club merchandise. It is also hosted on a new server which will be able to handle large volumes of traffic.

“This is an important day for Motherwell FC as we step up our digital offering,” communications manager Grant Russell said.

“Our supporters have told us exactly what they expect from our website, and we’ve looked to reflect that in what we are launching today.

“Our previous offering had become not fit for purpose and it was important we took the time to properly investigate and then design a website that would best serve the club and its supporters.

“We have a lot of innovative features and we’ve spent a lot of time on the user experience, making it as easy as possible to find the information you want as easily as possible. We are also now able to integrate our website with our new ticketing system, meaning it is now possible to buy tickets for matches through our website in just a few clicks.

“There are a number of features still to follow that will even further enhance our website for our fans that we will announce shortly.”

Ryan McGinnis, lead designer on the project at mtc, added: “We are delighted to present the new club website after months of collaborative research, design and development between Motherwell & mtc,”

“Our primary aim was to establish a highly engaging fan experience by placing supporters at the forefront of the digital journey. We have created a system that allows users to effortlessly find key content and can withstand the technical pressures expected of a progressive, traffic-heavy football club.

“We’re thrilled to welcome the club to our ever growing sports line-up and look forward to growing our digital partnership with Motherwell FC.”

BetPark become new front of shirt partner

BetPark become new front of shirt partner

Motherwell Football Club are delighted to announce BetPark as the team’s new front of shirt partner for the 2018/19 season.

The partnership will see the BetPark logo featured across new home and away shirts in all competitive home and away games in the forthcoming campaign.

BetPark are a Caribbean-based gaming company who previously held the back of shirt sponsorship in the 2017/18 season.

Having enjoyed worldwide exposure through the club, they have extended their deal to become the club’s principal sponsor in a deal that is the biggest Motherwell FC has had in over a decade.

Alan Burrows, chief executive at Motherwell FC, said: “We are delighted to make this announcement, which is fantastic news for the club and our supporters. It ensures a continuation of a positive and high-value partnership.

“Motherwell have had a remarkable season on and off the pitch and we are delighted to retain an international brand.”

Zafer Doruk, project manager of BetPark, added: “We are proud to extend our first-ever partnership in football with Motherwell FC.

“We have formed a great working relationship which has grown in strength over the last 12 months, and we delighted to now be the main shirt partner of the club.”

    Fir Park named best pitch

    Fir Park named best pitch

PFA Scotland has named Fir Park as the best pitch in the Scottish Premiership for the 2017/18 season.

After a season long study of all 42 of the SPFL’s pitches – a joint venture between the players union PFA Scotland, the Scottish FA and Sports Labs, the leading international experts in sports surface development and testing – Fir Park was named the best surface in the Scottish top league.

Throughout season 2017/18, players at all Premiership clubs were asked to rate the pitch they played on every time they were away from home via a specially commissioned PitchRater APP.

The breakdown saw the Premiership clubs rated:

    1st – Motherwell’s Fir Park: 4.26
    2nd – Hibernian’s Easter Road: 4.10
    3rd – Dundee’s Dens Park: 3.94
    4th – Celtic’s Celtic Park: 3.75
    5th – Partick Thistle’s Firhill: 3.52
    6th – Rangers’ Ibrox Stadium: 3.50
    7th – Ross County’s Global Energy Stadium: 3.26
    8th – St Johnstone’s McDiarmid Park: 3.08
    9th – Aberdeen’s Pittodrie: 3.00
    10th – Heart of Midlothian’s Tynecastle: 2.96
    11th – Kilmarnock’s Rugby Park: 1.70
    12th – Hamilton Academical’s New Douglas Park: 1.18

Off the back of the PitchRater study, PFA Scotland, Sports Labs and the Scottish FA will sit down with relevant parties, including groundsmen, to go over the results in more depth and come up with a list of recommendations going forward to improve, and maintain, the condition of pitches across all SPFL clubs.

Fraser Wishart, chief executive of PFA Scotland, said: “Too often players’ views are overlooked within football. In this case alterations are made to pitches and different surfaces laid without any thought of, or consultation with, our members.

“It is often forgotten that the pitch is our members’ place of work and for that reason we are delighted to partner in this groundbreaking research with Sports Labs and the Scottish FA.

“Players are the ones with the intimate knowledge of how a pitch plays, how it feels underfoot and what type of football has to be played therefore it makes perfect sense to ask them for their views.”

Motherwell chief executive Alan Burrows added: “I am delighted the hard work, dedication and talent of our head groundsman has been recognised and acknowledged by the professional footballers in the Ladbrokes Premiership.

“There are a number of excellent pitches in the league and to have been named the best by the players is a huge feather in our cap and a validation of our recent hard work to improve the surface at Fir Park, which struggled for a number of years prior to Paul’s arrival.

“We have invested significantly once again this year as we strive to make our surface even better for future seasons.”

Paul Matthew, head groundsman at Motherwell said: “I am pleased Motherwell has been named the best pitch in the Scottish top flight.

“I get fantastic support from the senior management at the club, something I don’t think anyone in my industry will underestimate.

“The industry as a whole is on an upward curve at the moment with a number of extremely talented groundsman in place who have enhance their pitches.

“I look forward to further support from the SPFL to help further protect and improve what is a vital part of the product in this country.”

    Crowds up at Fir Park

    Crowds up at Fir Park

Attendances at Fir Park in the Ladbrokes Premiership saw the biggest increase across the league in the 2017/18 season.

A total of 108,969 people watched our league games across the campaign, a rise of 28% from 2016/17.

Motherwell home matches were the seventh highest attended in the country and were the biggest outside of teams from the major cities.

Your continued support is vital to ensure we keep building on what we’ve started. Season tickets for 2018/19 are on sale now and are available at a discounted rate until 8 June.
