Aaron Chapman has joined Motherwell until the end of the 2020/21 season.

The 30-year-old English goalkeeper joins on a free transfer, having left Peterborough United in the summer. His move remains subject to international clearance.

“Aaron comes in to give us experienced cover and competition for Trevor,” manager Stephen Robinson said.

“He has played a high number of games at a good level in England, so will prove a valuable addition.

“Importantly, this will also open the door for us to put PJ Morrison on loan. We want to do that so he can gain valuable experience at first team level and we hope to announce a move for him shortly.

“That is vitally important for all young players but especially goalkeepers, who have a limited opportunity.

“Without reserve games, the development of our young players would be affected if we did not take that step. Going out on loan is the perfect way to bridge the gap.”

The 6ft 7in Chapman joined Chesterfield in 2013 from non-league side Belper Town.

Loan moves to Chester, Accrington Stanley and Bristol Rovers followed, before making the permanent switch to Accrington in 2016, where we won the League Two title in 2017/18.

A transfer to Peterborough United followed that summer, making 39 appearances before a short-term spell at Tranmere Rovers on loan.

Our next Scottish Premiership match with Celtic has been moved back by two days.

The game at Fir Park will now be played on Sunday, 8 November 2020.

Kick-off is at 3pm, although this remains subject to change if the fixture is moved for television coverage.

The match was originally scheduled to take place on Friday, 6 November 2020 but has now been moved due to Celtic’s involvement in the UEFA Europa League group stage.

Allan Campbell has been voted as our player of the month for September.

The award, in association with Paycare, has went to the youth academy graduate for the second month in succession.

Campbell beat off tough competition from Bevis Mugabi, Trevor Carson and Tony Watt to scoop the prize.

In September he played a key role for the Steelmen in three wins from five, netting in the 1-0 win over St Johnstone at the start of the month.

It is part of a series of online sessions our sponsor are running for free. The clinic starts at 10am on Tuesday, 20 October.

The hour-long e-clinic will include six science-backed ways that being kind is good for you and others, how the kindness actually impacts the brain, and referral pathways for talking therapies.

Attendees will also look at the factors which make people feel uncomfortable starting a conversation about mental health, and some of the current research associated with World Mental Health Day, which takes place across the globe in October

Kerry, Paycare’s Mental Health First Aid qualified trainer, said: “The e-clinic is part of a series being held once a month. During October we wanted to support organisations to be able to respond with kindness, and the real-life benefits associated with the way we treat others.

“This year has been a tough one, particularly for people living with mental illness and their carers. Research suggests that nearly 80% of people living with mental illness say that Covid-19 and associated lockdown has made their mental health worse.

“After World Mental Health Day, we will tie in the theme of how kindness can act as a chemical and can further support others who are dealing with mental health.”

In addition to the webinars, Paycare Wellbeing is also extending its online offering to complement its pre-pandemic face-to-face Mental Health First Aid training options, incorporating the new accredited online version of the full Mental Health First Aider course.

Devante Cole has returned to Motherwell on a permanent basis.

The forward, who made 21 appearances during a loan spell last season, has joined on a deal until the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

“Obviously we have worked with Devante before, so we know what are getting from him,” said manager Stephen Robinson.

“He give us options all across the forward line and adds pace. He has proven he can score goals coming in from the wider positions and he will add real competition to the front line.”

Cole started his career at Manchester City and has played across English football in the last six years at Barnsley, MK Dons, Bradford City, Fleetwood Town, Wigan Athletic and Burton Albion.

He moved to Doncaster Rovers in January at the end of his previous spell at Fir Park, making nine appearances.

Jermaine Hylton has left Motherwell to join Ross County.

The forward made 41 appearances for the Steelmen, netting four times after moving from Solihull Moors in the summer of 2019.

“We wish Jermaine good luck and all the best for his future,” said manager Stephen Robinson.

“At his age he wanted regular football. This was a good opportunity for him and we feel the way he has conducted himself deserved that chance to leave now.”

The match between Kilmarnock and Motherwell on Friday, 2 October 2020 has been cancelled.

Following confirmation that six opposition players tested positive for Covid-19, discussions took place between Kilmarnock FC, NHS Ayrshire and Arran, the Scottish Government, Public Health Scotland and the Scottish FA on Friday morning.

The decision was taken to isolate their entire playing squad for 14 days, in line with contact tracing protocols.

As a result, Kilmarnock FC applied to the SPFL board for a cancellation of the fixture. This has been granted.

Motherwell FC believes the right course of action has been taken, in order to protect players and staff of both clubs.

We wish those affected by the virus a speedy recovery to full health.

An investigation will now be carried out by the SPFL to ascertain the circumstances leading to this cancellation.

A spokesman for the SPFL said: “No new date for this fixture has been set, pending the outcome of the SPFL investigation.”

Trevor Carson is in the Northern Ireland squad for their forthcoming triple header.

The goalkeeper is in contention to face Bosnia and Herzegovina in a UEFA Euro 2020 play-off semi-final first on Thursday.

UEFA Nations League matches against Austria in Belfast on 11 October, and Norway in Oslo on 14 October, follow.

Bevis Mugabi is back in the Uganda squad for a training camp in October.

The in-form defender heads to Dubai to join up with his national team during the break, where they will take on club side Al Nasr SC in a friendly in Jebel Ali.

The camp is being held ahead of two crucial Africa Nations Cup qualifiers against South Sudan in November.

The 25-year-old has 10 caps for his country, who sit top of their qualifying group with four points from their opening two matches.

PJ Morrison has been called into the Scotland Under 21 squad.

The 22-year-old has earned his first international call, adding to Scot Gemmill’s selection for their forthcoming UEFA European Under 21 Championships qualifiers.

Morrison has moved up to number two behind Trevor Carson following injury to Scott Fox, deputising on the bench for the majority of the 2020/21 campaign to date.

Scotland host Czech Republic at Tynecastle on October 9, before travelling to face San Marino four days later.

Morrison joins Motherwell duo Allan Campbell and Barry Maguire in the squad, and also ex-Well man David Turnbull.
