Fir Park is returning to full capacity.

North Lanarkshire Council has approved a return for a maximum of 13,677 spectators for forthcoming matches.

As a result, all season ticket holders will be able to sit in their allocated seats from our match with Dundee on 28 August onwards.

The approval will be kept under review by North Lanarkshire Council and may be subject to change, should issues arise relating to the perceived risk of the spread of Covid-19 directly related to the decision to return to full capacity.

We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to Fir Park.

Get ready to come back

Season ticket cards for the 2021/22 campaign are now available to collect. Every fan will receive a new card this season, which we anticipate will be the same card until the end of the 2023/24 season.

You can pick yours up at Fir Park any time between 9am and 5pm Monday to Thursday, and 9am to 4pm on Fridays.

If you have paid for delivery, you will receive yours in the post in the coming weeks.

Motherwell put in a fighting display but fell to a 5-0 defeat against Rangers on Sunday.

Doubles from Brogan Hay and Lizzie Arnot, and a further goal from Jane Ross, was enough to secure Rangers all three points in the opening SWPL Cup group stage match.

Motherwell made it difficult for Rangers to create anything in the opening minutes of the game. 

However, their robust defence was eventually broken on 19 minutes by Hay. Khym Ramsay made an excellent save from Jane Ross from close range, but the rebound fell to Hay to tap in to break the deadlock. 

Hay then grabbed her second and Rangers’ second on 23 minutes. Motherwell failed to clear their lines and the striker slotted it in the bottom corner to double her side’s advantage. 

Three minutes later, Rangers were awarded a free kick 25 yards out. Arnot stepped up and despite Ramsay getting a hand to it, the shot had too much power for the goalkeeper and hit the back of the net for goal number three. 

In the second half, Motherwell grabbed a stronger hold in the game and had more possession, limiting Rangers to few chances. 

With 10 minutes to go, Rangers made it four when Ross got on the end of an Arnot cross. 

Arnot would grab her second on the stroke of the final whistle, when she finished after running through on goal. 

With three matches still to go in the group, Motherwell still have it all to play for and travel to Aberdeen next Sunday for their second match.

Motherwell exited the Premier Sports Cup with a 1-0 loss at Dundee.

Lee Ashcroft’s goal late in the second half was the difference, as the Dark Blues advanced to the quarter-final stage.

Liam Grimshaw made his long-awaited return, after seven months out with illness, with Juhani Ojala also making his debut in defence.

Mark O’Hara was also back on the bench for the first time this season after a knock in the summer.

The first big chance fell to the hosts.

Cummings got in on the right side of box, with his low drive across Kelly well saved and gathered at the second attempt by the keeper.

Connor Shields saw a curling shot from distance drop wide, while Adam also saw a 25-yard drive go over the bar at the other end.

Motherwell’s forward momentum started to pick up and there was almost a debut goal for Ojala on the half hour mark.

Still up the park from a set play. Carroll’s return ball into the box from the left saw the Finn get across the front of his man but flick his header from 15 yards over.

Then, with eight minutes left in the half, Motherwell should have taken the lead.

A slack pass found Lawless and Shields two-on-two with the Dundee defence. Lawless squared the ball for his fellow forward who had time to engineer the space, before taking a free shot goal from 20 yards.

With the goal at his mercy, the summer signing opted for power and saw his drive beat the ‘keeper but crash back off the crossbar and away.

Dundee had the bulk of the play in the second half and should have opened the scoring four minutes in.

Bursting through on goal, McGhee got one-on-one with Kelly but the goalkeeper got out quick and somehow got the touch to deny the opener.

Cummings thought he’d opened the scoring on the hour mark, only for his goal to be ruled offside, but Relentless Dundee pressure though eventually told.

Motherwell had absorbed most of the pressure from balls into the box but an Adam corner from the left in the 77th minute led to Ashcroft rising above the bodies and heading home.

The visitors could have had the leveller with eight minutes left. Woolery’s brilliant floated ball into the box met the run of Watt, but his header from close range was straight at the goalkeeper.

Tale of the Tape

Rangers have won all five of their previous fixtures with Motherwell.

Last time out, Rangers came away with a 6-0 victory in the penultimate game of the 2020/21 SWPL1 campaign.

Motherwell last took points out of this fixture in April 2019, when they fought back from 3-0 down to take a point.

Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis to all supporters.

The game at Dens Park takes place on Saturday 14 August. Kick off is at 3pm.

Turnstiles open at 1.45pm. Please arrive early.

Masks must be worn for entry and when in enclosed areas of the stadium. Please sit in your allocated seat.

No kiosks will be open and a five-minute holdback will be implemented to ensure surrounding streets are clear.

Motherwell are unbeaten in their last 10 matches against Dundee, a run stretching back to mid-2017.

The men in claret and amber have won nine of those encounters and drawn one, including six victories at Dens Park.

Newly-promoted Dundee, like Motherwell, have picked up one point from their opening two cinch Premiership matches.

An opening day 2-2 home draw with St Mirren was followed up with a 6-0 defeat at Celtic last time out.

In the Premier Sports Cup group stage, the Dark Blues won all four matches against Brora Rangers, Ross County, Montrose and Forfar Athletic, scoring 14 and conceding two.

Motherwell opened the season with a 3-2 home loss to Hibernian, before the 1-1 draw at St Johnstone on Sunday.

Dundee have informed us that there are no wheelchair spaces available for away supporters.

Supporters are asked to read Dundee’s code of conduct before purchasing and attending.

Motherwell ran out eventual and comfortable 4-0 winners in their third and final friendly match of pre-season against Stirling University.

A double from Leanne Crichton, and further goals from Gill Inglis and Nicole Cairney, wrapped up the win for the claret and amber.

It was an evenly contested first half with neither team really grabbing a hold of the game.

Head coach Paul Brownlie then made seven changes at half-time to rotate his team and in the second half, Motherwell showed their dominance.

Crichton broke the deadlock for the ’Well with a fine effort from a free-kick from 25 yards out.

Motherwell made it 2-0 soon after. Some excellent build-up play down the right-hand side led to Inglis being found in space and she finished past the Stirling keeper to double the advantage.

The win would be all but wrapped up when Crichton scored her second free-kick of the match.

Cairney then got her name on the scoresheet near the end of the match when she finished from close range after Stirling failed to clear a set-piece.

Motherwell’s competitive season gets underway next Sunday when they face Rangers in the SWPL Cup.
