Three Motherwell players offered deals are the first to put pen to paper, extending their stay at Fir Park by another year.
Goakeeper Craig Samson, youngster David Ferguson and striker Craig Moore are all confirmed to be part of the squad for 2016/17.
Samson, 32, has previously been involved with the Scotland set-up and has nearly 350 senior career appearances. Included in that was two outings for ‘Well last year, where he helped his side to two wins against Hearts and Ross County with some vital blocks.
20-year old David Ferguson, centre back in Motherwell’s Youth Cup Final victory over Hearts, has also signed on for another year. Ferguson, who has played six times in the Fir Park first-team, has enjoyed short-term loan deals at Alloa, Annan and Airdrie.
Striker Craig Moore is another who has enjoyed a successful loan period. Having been injured the season previous to last, the 21-year old spent last year at Ayr United, firing 14 goals in 23 league starts.
He has also spent time on loan at Cowdenbeath back in 2013; netting seven in 11 starts for the Blue Brazil.
Mark McGhee said: “We’re pleased to have the first of our business complete in what will no doubt be a busy summer.
“Sammy [Craig Samson] was superb all season long and only failed to get in because of Connor Ripley’s form, but I have faith in him.
“Craig Moore has been fantastic for Ayr and we’ve been watching him regularly. He’ll come back in pre-season and make a strong pitch to be a regular for us.
“David has also been out on loan and his performances there and with the Under 20s are deserving of a deal. Like Craig, he’ll start pre-season with us to stake a claim to be a regular at Motherwell.
“We’ve still in advanced discussions with several other players and hope to conclude deals shortly.”
In addition, Under 20s players Jack McMillan and Ross MacLean have signed on for another year, with Under 17s Jordan Armstrong and James Scott last night signing professional contracts that will commence this summer.
